Notation Guide

Symbols should compress the system without hiding what the system means.

This page defines how the Codex writes equations, operators, fields, memory windows, ethical masks, artifact codes, calendar coordinates, claim levels, revisions, and cross-page references.

Core Principles

Five rules govern the notation system.

1 Define before using

A symbol receives a working definition before it enters a new equation or chapter.

2 Preserve distinctions

Physical quantity, symbolic meaning, witness, interpretation, and ethical judgment must not share one symbol without explanation.

3 State units when measurable

Frequency, duration, mass, distance, level, temperature, date, and other measurable quantities should include units or a declared scale.

4 Mark symbolic relations

A symbolic equation should be identified as a working model rather than presented as an established physical law.

5 Version visible changes

When notation changes, the affected equations and pages should preserve the earlier form or provide a dated migration note.

Typography

Letter styles carry different roles.

Italic variables

Ordinary variables, coordinates, indices, time, frequency, position, and values that change inside a relation.

Calligraphic operators

Named operations, gates, laws, filters, transformations, and structured functions.

\( \mathbb{M},\mathbb{T},\mathbb{A} \)

Blackboard systems

Larger constructed systems, persistent windows, artifact classes, and composite architectures.

Bold fields and collections

Multi-component values, carrier fields, condition sets, and structured vectors.

Fraktur principal state

The main resulting Reality field in the Master Equation and related synthesis forms.

Greek architecture symbols

Named fields, coherence, transition stages, limits, and large structural concepts.

Symbol Families

The main notation groups.

Master Equation terms

\(E\): Energy · \(I\): Information · \(N\): Intention · \(M\): Memory · \(F\): Flow · \(C\): Consciousness.

Foundational field terms

$$ \Psi_{\Omega}(x,t) $$

\( \Psi \) identifies the field. \( \Omega \) identifies the encompassing or limiting frame. \(x\) and \(t\) locate the field in position and time.

Living operators

$$ \mathcal{I}\mathcal{L}\mathcal{C}\mathcal{S} $$

Intention, Language, Coherence, and Source. The written ILCS order is canonical; practical application may begin with Source.

Delta stages

$$ \Delta_0\rightarrow\Delta_1\rightarrow\cdots\rightarrow\Delta_7 $$

Frame, Source, Witness, Gate, Language, Memory, Coherence, and Remnant.

Witness and memory

$$ \mathcal{W}(x,t), \qquad \mathbb{M}_{\tau}[F](t) $$

\( \mathcal{W} \) is situated Witness. \( \mathbb{M}_{\tau} \) is the weighted Memory Window across duration \( \tau \).

Frequency and carriers

Frequency, amplitude, phase, carrier field, and Harmonic Gate.

Coherence and learning

Coherence measure, coherence-dependent learning rate, and change gradient.

Ethics and Remnant

Ethical containment and long-form preservation after correction.

Operators

What the mathematical signs mean inside the Codex.

\( + \)

Addition

Contributions are combined on a compatible scale. The page must define whether the terms are literal quantities, normalized scores, or symbolic layers.

Multiplication

Terms interact or depend on one another. A weak factor may constrain the whole relation.

Coupled relation

Layers combine while retaining structure. One layer changes how another is interpreted.

Coordinated composition

Distinct modules enter one architecture without implying that unlike physical units are directly added.

Function composition

One operator acts after another. Order matters unless the chapter explicitly proves otherwise.

Transition

Movement from one stage, state, interpretation, or page to another.

Implication

When the declared condition holds, the stated consequence or rule follows within the model.

Gradient

Direction of change in a declared space. The page should identify what dimensions the gradient spans.

Partial change

Change with respect to one declared variable while other variables are treated as fixed.

Accumulation

A field, witness, or signal gathered across an interval such as time, position, or frequency.

Closed accumulation

Integration around a closed cycle, boundary, or complete field path.

\( \lim \)

Limit

The direction a relation approaches as time, iteration, or another parameter extends.

Indices

Subscripts and superscripts carry context.

Equation identity

\( \mathcal{E}_{9} \) identifies the ethical mask associated with Equation 9. The subscript is a Canon reference, not a numerical input.

Window length

\( \mathbb{M}_{\tau} \) uses \( \tau \) to name the duration of the memory interval.

Indexed component

\(a_k\), \( \nu_k \), and \( \phi_k \) identify the amplitude, frequency, and phase of carrier component \(k\).

Inverse operation

\( \Pi_{\nu}^{-1} \) identifies a backward or inverse reasoning path from observed resonance toward possible causes.

Long-duration Remnant

\( \mathcal{R}_{\infty} \) indicates what remains as correction continues over an extended or idealized horizon.

Time state

\( \mathfrak{R}_{t+\Delta t} \) identifies the resulting field after one update interval.

0 Foundational Field

The pre-interpretive field architecture.

1–6 Core construction

Operators, Witness, Gate, Language, Remnant, and Type-7 Field.

7–8 External comparators

Referenced comparison models, clearly marked as not originating as Codex laws.

9–12 Containment and structure

Ethics, inverse reasoning, projection frame, and causal lattice.

13–17 Coherence and persistence

Coherence, updating, learning, memory, and voice carriers.

Equation 4b

Equation 4b is a companion extension to Equation 4 rather than a renumbering of the entire Canon. Future companion equations should use letters only when they clearly belong to an existing canonical relation.

Equation Page Standard

Every Canon page should follow one structure.

1 · Canon identity

Equation number, title, symbol, status, and current version.

2 · Equation

The formal MathJax relation with every symbol defined.

3 · Plain language

A direct explanation understandable without mathematical training.

4 · Scope

What the equation is intended to model and what it does not claim.

5 · Terms

Definitions, units, scales, and required assumptions.

6 · Worked example

A concrete application separated from the abstract form.

7 · Failure modes

Ways the equation can be misread, overextended, or used without sufficient evidence.

8 · Ethical boundary

How Equation 9 constrains the relation.

9 · Connections

Related Canon equations, theory chapters, site systems, artifacts, and ledger practices.

10 · Revision record

What changed, when, why, and which pages depend on the updated form.

Claim Labels

Every strong statement should reveal its evidence level.

OBS

Observed

A direct perception or measurement recorded with time, place, conditions, and method.

DOC

Documented

Supported by a preserved external record such as a file, image, message, instrument log, or registry entry.

INF

Inferred

A proposed explanation drawn from observations and assumptions, with alternatives still possible.

SYM

Symbolic

A mythic, spiritual, artistic, personal, or archetypal interpretation.

HYP

Hypothesis

A testable proposed relation not yet established by sufficient repeated evidence.

REP

Replicated

An observation or measurement repeated under defined conditions with a comparable result.

EXT

External source

A claim or model originating outside the Codex and requiring attribution.

UNR

Unresolved

The evidence remains incomplete, contradictory, or insufficient for a stronger conclusion.

RET

Retracted

A former claim withdrawn because it was false, overstated, harmful, or unsupported.

13 Moons Notation

Calendar coordinates remain separate from astronomy.

A Codex day may be represented by Year \(Y\), Moon \(M\), Day \(D\), Gregorian date \(G\), visible lunar phase \( \Phi \), Witness \(W\), and Return state \(R\).

Moon / Day

Write as “Moon 3 · Day 5/28” in public reading text.

Matrix index

Use \(k=28(M-1)+D\) for the position inside the 364-day matrix.

Gregorian date

Write the full civil date where chronology matters.

Visible phase

Mark as observed or calculated approximation and keep it separate from the symbolic Moon number.

Frequency Notation

Always distinguish tone, modulation, beat, and symbolic name.

Audible carrier

Write frequency with units: \(432\,\mathrm{Hz}\), \(528\,\mathrm{Hz}\), or \(963\,\mathrm{Hz}\).

Beat frequency

Write as \(f_{\text{beat}}=|f_1-f_2|\) and identify both source tones.

Modulation rate

A low number such as 7.83 Hz should be labeled as modulation, pulse, beat, or visual timing when it is not emitted as an audible pitch.

Preset name

Words such as Calm, Focus, Restore, T7, or Remnant identify intent paths, not guaranteed physiological effects.

Level

Record master gain, individual deck gains, device, and measured output when available.

Duration

Record session length and any fades, intervals, loops, or timed transitions.

Artifact Codes

Stable codes preserve identity through changing status.

The family prefix identifies an artifact line or unique named class. The sequence number distinguishes the individual registered object.

T7-000

Type-7 system origin or singular foundational Personal Instrument.

EN-007

Ember Node family, artifact sequence 007.

HL-001

HaLevanah, the first registered object in its named artifact line.

TN-001

Tiger Node family, first registered artifact.

TS-001

Time Shard family, first registered artifact.

TB-001

Tenser Band family, first registered artifact.

Code rules

Codes should remain uppercase, use a hyphen, and preserve leading zeros. A status change does not create a new code. A materially distinct rebuild may receive a version suffix in the registry while preserving the original identity.

Status Vocabulary

Use one current status and preserve the history.

PERS

Personal Instrument

Retained for the maker or designated operator; not publicly offered.

AVAIL

Available

Open for purchase or inquiry under stated terms.

RSVD

Reserved

Held for a designated person or pending transfer.

GIFT

Gifted

Transferred without sale as a deliberate maker-to-keeper relationship.

BUILD

In Creation

The physical form or registry identity remains under development.

SOON

Coming Soon

Planned for release but not yet available.

ARCH

Archived

Preserved as history or reference outside active use or release.

RET

Retired

Removed from active use because of condition, design change, or completed lifecycle.

File Conventions

Page names should remain predictable.

Theory hub

docs/theory.html remains the main public gateway.

Theory chapters

Use lowercase kebab-case, such as living-technology.html.

Equation pages

Use docs/theory/equations/eq00.html through eq17.html, including eq04b.html.

Artifact images

Use lowercase descriptive filenames such as time-shard-ring-001.jpg.

Versioning

Prefer visible registry or page revision metadata over filenames such as final-final-v2.html.

Stable links

Once a public URL is established, preserve it or provide a redirect rather than silently moving the page.

Attribution

Internal creation and external comparison should remain visible.

Codex-origin relation

Identify equations and terminology authored within the Scroll of Fire / Codex of Reality project.

External comparator

Mark imported or adapted models as external, name the source, and explain how the Codex use differs.

Quotation

Use quotation marks and attribution for exact borrowed language. Prefer concise quotation with surrounding explanation.

Paraphrase

Cite the source even when the wording is original if the underlying claim, model, or historical fact comes from elsewhere.

Source status

Distinguish primary source, secondary source, reference work, personal witness, and speculative comparison.

Unresolved attribution

When origin is uncertain, label it unresolved rather than assigning confident authorship.

Revision

Every major notation change needs a migration path.

1 · Name the old form

Preserve the symbol, equation, filename, or term that readers may already know.

2 · State the new form

Show the exact replacement or clarified definition.

3 · Explain the reason

Identify ambiguity, conflict, error, better structure, or expanded scope.

4 · List affected pages

Update Canon, glossary, equation pages, system chapters, artifact records, and links.

5 · Preserve compatibility

Use redirects, aliases, or migration notes when an old public URL or term remains in circulation.

6 · Date the revision

Record when the change became canonical.

Clear physical statement

“A 432 Hz sine tone played for 10 minutes at the recorded device level.”

Clear witness statement

“The listener reported reduced distraction during the session.”

Clear symbolic statement

“Within this preset, 432 Hz is used as the lead carrier for the Calm path.”

Clear unresolved statement

“The observed change was not repeated under controlled conditions; causation remains unresolved.”

Clear artifact statement

“HL-001 is hand-braided copper with moonstone and tourmaline; its lunar meaning is symbolic.”

Clear calendar statement

“Moon 3 · Day 5 is a Codex coordinate; the astronomical lunar phase is calculated separately.”
