Equation 3

Every field needs a visible rule for what may enter.

Equation 3 defines the Harmonic Gate as a bounded decision function. It can allow, reduce, route, delay, filter, or reject a carrier, claim, variable, action, or participant according to the declared purpose, evidence state, technical limits, and ethical boundary of the field.

The Harmonic Gate

The input \(X(\nu)\) passes through the Harmonic Gate \( \mathcal{H}(\nu) \). A value of 0 blocks the input, 1 passes it fully, and values between 0 and 1 attenuate or partially admit it.

Context-dependent gate

The gate can depend on carrier frequency \( \nu \), field boundary \( \Omega \), declared Intention \( \mathcal{I} \), Witness \( \mathcal{W} \), and Ethical Law \( \mathcal{E}_{9} \).

Plain Language

What Equation 3 means.

Not everything that can enter a field should enter at full strength. Some signals need to be blocked. Some require reduction. Some should be routed to a different place. Some claims need to remain provisional until stronger witness exists. The Harmonic Gate makes that decision visible.

Pass

A compatible input enters the field at full declared strength.

Reduce

An input enters with less gain, weight, confidence, or influence.

Route

An input is sent to another channel, layer, archive, or review path.

Reject

An input remains outside because it is incompatible, unsafe, unsupported, irrelevant, or nonconsensual.

Ethical gate

Consent, privacy, safety, dignity, proportionality, transparency, and stop conditions.

Temporal gate

Whether an action, release, interpretation, or decision is allowed now, delayed, scheduled, or closed.

Artifact gate

Whether an artifact is Personal, Available, Reserved, Gifted, Archived, Retired, or not ready for release.

Gate States

Five practical states of passage.

0 Closed

The input is blocked from the active field.

0–1 Attenuated

The input enters with reduced gain, confidence, weight, or influence.

Routed

The input is sent to another layer, archive, review path, or output channel.

τ Delayed

The input is held until a time, condition, consent, or evidence threshold is met.

1 Open

The input passes fully under the declared conditions.

Thresholds

A gate may switch or fade.

Binary threshold

Soft threshold

Only values inside the declared interval are admitted.

Ethical override

An ethical halt closes the gate regardless of technical compatibility.

Gate Protocol

From proposed input to governed passage.

1 · Name the input

Identify the signal, claim, source, action, participant, artifact, or carrier presented to the field.

2 · Name the purpose

State why the input is being considered and what role it would play.

3 · Check compatibility

Determine whether the input fits the technical, conceptual, temporal, and environmental limits.

4 · Check evidence

Label the input as observed, documented, inferred, symbolic, hypothetical, replicated, unresolved, or retracted.

5 · Check consent

Confirm whether the people affected understand and permit the proposed entry.

6 · Set the gate state

Choose closed, attenuated, routed, delayed, or open.

7 · Record the setting

Preserve the value, threshold, reason, duration, and who authorized it.

8 · Observe consequence

Record what changed after the input entered or remained outside.

9 · Recalculate

Change the gate when new witness, risk, evidence, or context alters the field.

10 · Preserve Remnant

Keep the strongest gate rule and attach the revision history.

Worked Example 1

Gating a frequency field.

Input

A four-deck sound field using 432 Hz, 528 Hz, 369 Hz, and 963 Hz carriers.

Purpose

Create a low-intensity focus session for one consenting listener.

Technical gate

Master volume is limited, abrupt transitions are removed, and each deck receives a separate gain.

Witness gate

Listener comfort and task performance are recorded separately from symbolic claims.

Ethical gate

Immediate mute remains available, no hidden spoken content is included, and discomfort closes the field.

Remnant

The preset is preserved only if the technical settings and reported experience remain coherent.

Worked Example 2

Gating a strong claim.

Input

“The artifact produced a field that caused the compass movement.”

Direct witness

The compass needle moved near an artifact containing magnets.

Evidence gate

The direct movement passes. The broad causal claim is attenuated because known magnets provide an ordinary mechanism.

Language gate

The revised statement becomes: “The compass deflected near the artifact under the recorded conditions.”

Delayed claim

Any wider field hypothesis remains delayed until controls, repeatability, and measurements support it.

Remnant

The direct witness remains; the unsupported causal certainty does not pass.

Worked Example 3

Gating an artifact release.

Input

A newly completed copper and stone wearable is proposed for public release.

Material gate

Sharp edges, loose stones, structural weakness, finish, and wearable fit are inspected.

Registry gate

Code, name, class, materials, dimensions, status, images, and claim boundary must be complete.

Ethical gate

Materials, images, price, availability, and symbolic claims must be represented accurately.

Gate state

If inspection or registry data remain incomplete, the artifact stays In Creation or Coming Soon.

Open state

The gate opens only when the artifact is safe, documented, and honestly presented.

Scope

What Equation 3 does and does not do.

It does

Provide a visible structure for filtering, routing, delaying, attenuating, or admitting inputs.

It does not

Prove that every social, ethical, linguistic, and physical input can be reduced to one exact numeric scale.

It can be technical

In audio and signal systems, \( \mathcal{H}(\nu) \) may be implemented as gain, filtering, routing, or frequency response.

It can be procedural

In inquiry, publishing, artifacts, and governance, the gate can represent declared rules and decision thresholds.

Failure Modes

How the gate becomes distortion or control.

Hidden gate

Inputs are filtered or blocked without revealing the rule, operator, or threshold.

Moving threshold

The standard changes whenever evidence challenges the preferred conclusion.

Gate as censorship

Legitimate witness is excluded because it is inconvenient rather than unsafe or unsupported.

Gate as coercion

Access, participation, sound, language, or information is controlled without consent or accountability.

Permanent delay

A claim, repair, release, or correction is held indefinitely with no visible condition for reopening.

Ethical bypass

Technical compatibility is treated as permission even when consent, dignity, or safety requires closure.

Ethical Boundary

Equation 9 has authority over Equation 3.

When an input violates the ethical mask, the gate closes regardless of technical fit, symbolic importance, operator desire, or claimed benefit.

Consent

Participation and exposure cannot be assumed merely because the operator controls the system.

People affected by the gate should know the rule when disclosure is possible and appropriate.

Appeal and correction

A gate decision should be reviewable when new witness changes the field.

Proportion

The gate should use the least restrictive setting capable of meeting the declared need.
